March 17-18 marked the Battle Ground Art Alliance’s Spring Art Show and it was an event we were extremely proud to support here at Above & Beyond Dentistry. This is BGAA’s big local fundraiser and which is always held on the third weekend in March at the Battle Ground Community Center. It was the seventeenth annual show and highlights BGAA’s commitment to bringing art into our local community.
A Bit More About BGAA
Members of the arts center include artists, painters and potters, photographers and sculptors, artisans who produce beautiful creations out of glass, jewelry makers and writers. Some members of the group are experienced artists while others are novices. Dedicated amateurs and seasoned professionals are all welcomed by the group, united by their common interest in art. Everybody shares their expertise and learns from each other. Many but not all members live in Battle Ground, but the group is bound together by its commitment to bringing art to the local community, working with organizations and individuals. Not all the members are artists as some are supporters. The supporters believe that art is an important part of our local community and they contribute to BGAA activities which include juried art shows for local artists and sponsorship for student scholarships.
This year, BGAA is working with the city council to hold an art contest with one of the elementary schools and which is focused on civic responsibility. BGAA judges a districtwide art show and provides a financial stipend to the winner, providing an art student with a scholarship to Clark College. Dr. Kevin Low is supporting the arts center by providing a financial donation so that hopefully in the future it will be able to provide more scholarships for students.
Why We Believe in the Power of Art
Above & Beyond Dentistry believes art is extremely important to our local community because of the joy it can bring, and which is why Dr. Low is so pleased to help the center. As a keen supporter of the arts, Dr. Low understands only too well how aesthetic beauty can be very uplifting. While still a teenager, Dr. Low volunteered in his dad’s dental office and quickly realized dentistry encompassed far more than science. He saw people who had previously felt self-conscious about the appearance of their teeth, leave the dental office with beautiful new smiles they couldn’t wait to show the world.
Blending Dentistry with Art
Dr. Low might not claim to be an artist, but his patients may think otherwise. He frequently combines artistry with dental technology, blending both together to create healthy and attractive smiles for his patients. Every dental restoration is custom-designed, like a piece of unique yet highly functional art and which allows patients to eat, smile, talk and laugh in complete comfort. When we see beauty in the world, it makes us happy, but great aesthetic dentistry allows us to smile with confidence.
